Technology and Innovation
As a leader on innovation in Congress, Tina will fight to:
Work to create an responsible infrastructure for emerging industries: We must support advanced technologies that create jobs and economic growth while ensuring corporations pay their fair share, utilize renewable energy, and utilize community guidance when pursuing development.
Restore America’s leadership in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields: In order to regain global leadership in STEM fields, we much reverse the Trump Administration’s cuts to federal research and reinstate investments in science and innovation that power the National Capital Region, support high-skill jobs, and keep the United States at the forefront of discovery.
Prioritize investment in the industries of the future by committing significant resources to emerging fields such as clean energy, artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, and biotechnology. These investments would help New Jersey and the United States remain competitive globally while creating the next generation of well-paying jobs.
Encourage responsible innovation in emerging financial technologies by establishing clear, practical standards for cryptocurrencies and related tools. These standards should protect consumers from fraud and abuse, deter criminal activity, and offer transparent regulatory guidance that supports innovators developing the next generation of financial solutions.
Ensure a strong federal framework: The federal government must assert a leading role in shaping fair and open global markets for the U.S. technology industry, ensuring a consistent, nationwide approach rather than leaving regulation to individual states. By setting clear federal standards, the government can more effectively push back against anti-competitive practices by foreign governments and create predictable conditions for American firms to expand internationally.
Real world experience:
Dr. Tina Shah joined Abridge in 2023 as Chief Clinical Officer, where she brought frontline clinical experience into the company’s AI development and strategy.
In this role, she helped ensure that Abridge’s technology aligned with the real needs of clinicians while guiding how it was implemented across health systems. A central focus of her work was addressing physician burnout—an issue she had experienced firsthand—by promoting AI tools that reduced documentation burden, allowed clinicians to complete notes more efficiently, and enabled more meaningful patient interactions.
Beyond product and operational leadership, Dr. Shah was also involved in research and thought leadership, co-leading initiatives that studied the impact of ambient AI on clinician well-being, patient outcomes, and healthcare costs. Overall, her experience at Abridge reflected a broader mission to responsibly integrate AI into healthcare in ways that improved both the clinician experience and the quality of patient care.
